Robert M. Dryden, M.D. has a dedicated commitment to the advancement of cosmetic surgery in the medical community and the education of cosmetic surgeons. He would be honored and committed to serve as a trustee of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He would bring to the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery many years of experience in cosmetic surgery, a breadth of experience in plastic surgery, in academics, in eye and facial plastic surgery, and as a former president of a non ABMS recognized professional and strongly knit organization.

Robert M. Dryden, M.D., was educated at the University of California at Davis as an undergraduate, at the University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco for medical school and then interned at the University of Oregon. He returned to the University of California for his residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in cosmetic and reconstructive eye plastic surgery. After fellowship, he then spent two years at the National Institutes of Health, where he was also a consultant to the National Naval Medical Center.

Currently, he is board certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery in general cosmetic surgery and by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has served as an examiner for the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.

Bob has experience in the creation of a cosmetic practice. He has built a full spectrum cosmetic surgical practice from a largely reconstructive eye and facial plastic surgical practice and is aware of many of the hurdles that must be overcome in making a successful transition to cosmetic practice.

Bob has had a commitment to teaching and education on many levels. He is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and teaches residents in the basics of oculoplastic surgery. He has had a fellowship in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Eye and Facial Plastic Surgery for approximately 24 years. He directs a fellowship in General Cosmetic Surgery for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He has lectured throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe and has been honored as a visiting professor at many academic institutions. Last year he presented a paper to the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery annual meeting. He has contributed to the literature with over 40 Peer-reviewed articles and books

Activities with the American Society of Ophthalmic plastic and Reconstructive Surgery have included many presentations. He most recently served as General Chairman for the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Cosmetic and Restorative Surgery in December 1998 in Tucson.

He has been involved in organizational plastic surgery, serving the offices of President, Treasurer, and Program Chairman for the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and has functioned as the Chairman of the Advisory Board to the ASOPRS. He is also on the education committee for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Cosmetic organizational involvement includes the Board of Trustees of the American Board of Cosmetic surgery, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the North American Academy of Cosmetic and Restorative Surgery, the American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery, the American Society of Liposuction Surgery, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Remonstrative Sugary, and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Bob’s family is a vital part of his life. His wife, Laurie, of almost 37 years is actively involved in editing medical papers and offering suggestions where requested, and obtaining a doctorate degree in education. He has two sons and a daughter. For recreation, you can find Bob working his horses, or riding in the mountains and desert of Arizona.

Bob’s involvement in the Tucson community includes involvement with the Board of Directors for the University of Southern California Club of Southern Arizona and many horse related activities. He was recently honored with the 1998 Pima County 4H Partners Award for teaching 4H judging and also serving as a 4H judge. He is on the Board of Directors for the Southern Arizona Arabians Horse Association as immediate Past President and served as a 1998 delegate to the International Arabian Horse Association Annual Meeting. He was a Rotating Governing Member of The Arabian Horse Registry of America. Currently, he is on the Community Advisory Council of the Arizona International College of the University of Arizona and also on the Medical Advisory Board for Senator John Kyl.
